This is a tough topic to talk about but it is happening to people all around us. I even remember speaking to a Google recruiter a couple years ago, sensing something was wrong asked, what was up. I got an emotional response from someone who had just realized they had become a victim of identity theft. I have written papers on freezing your credit and "what to do if your identity is stolen", so was able to offer some practical help immediately. Recently in dealing with another fraud case I came across something put together by the FTC that is a great tool to bookmark or have printed out in a desk drawer; a graphic on what to do in case of identity theft. It's probably worth a look over now, just so you know it's there if ever needed. https://www.identitytheft.gov/Steps |
